This chapter (11) entails Barak's handling of the 'Associations Crisis'. In an attempt to deflect public opinion from his alleged wrongdoings to the fact that it was 'a common norm, that relies on a legal precedent' Barak addressed Greenberg, asking him to assess different angles of his "counter attack".

"The public, Greenberg writes, has no idea who Zilbershtein and Cohen are. The Government's legal consultant, Rubinstein, enjoys public support of 51 percent. This dissuaded Barak from his intention of a direct confrontation with him. Greenberg also assessed the efficiency of different messages in Barak's defense and for his offense. Greenberg reported that a majority of the public
thinks that the poor handling of the 'Associations Crisis' reflects Barak's poor abilities and should prevent him from negotiating with Syria". [..] In this case, Barak completely disregarded the polls and issued a statement denouncing his responsibility for the alleged wrongdoings".
